BORGARBÓKASAFNIÐ

The City Library, along with eight other public libraries in Europe, is taking part in a three‑year international project called make-a-thek.
The goal of this project is to create a space for creative, curious, and mindful participants, where we share knowledge and learn new methods together. The focus is on teaching how to make better use of clothing—for example, how to repair clothes and use leftover materials in creative ways.
This is a journey, and the destination will take shape through the participation of as many people as possible.
Where do the events take place?
make-a-thek events and workshops take place in several library locations, including Gerðuberg, Árbær, and Spöngin.
At the City Library, we will also highlight books and magazines related to crafts and clothing repair. We encourage you to borrow exciting materials that support the learning offered in the workshops.
The make-a-thek project is funded by the European Union’s New Horizon programme.
